If you fancy playing a pandaman in World of Warcraft but don't much fancy actually buying the Mists of Pandaria expansion, good news! Blizzard will be opening every race up to all players, whether they own the expansion which introduced them or not. Yes you, person who somehow has kept playing WoW all these years without buying a single expansion, will soon be able to have goblins, werewolves, space-goats and all that jazz.

The change will come in with patch 5.0.4, Blizzard announced yesterday. The update's slated to launch on August 28, paving the way for Mists of Pandaria's launch on September 25.

"We want the entire World of Warcraft community to be able to embrace their inner goblin, blood elf, worgen, draenei, or pandaren from the moment they step foot into the world of Azeroth."

You'll still need to buy expansions to access their new areas and whatnot, of course.

Say, speaking of MoP, did you see the fancy opening cinematic yesterday?

Yeah, you would've been better off waiting until the patch to see what changes. Though other than talent changes, I wager there won't be much new stuff until MoP actually launches.

what have they done in the new talent system? I was looking at it last night and its like pick one of 3 every certain amount of levels or something...

its looks simplified which it probably is

Every WoW talent tree so far has been a google check.

The new ones are strictly utility, so you're not just picking the one to maximize your deeps any more.

Mostly utility at least, but looking at the druid talent tree one or two of those talent choices is going to be DPS boosters, which one is best may vary depending on the situation, but there will be some cookie cutter for those who really want to min/max it. :)

I don't know. I was trying to write a post explaining my thoughts at each level, but outside of the 90 selections it's all just straight utility. I can see each spec using any one of those abilities in various common situations.

90 appears a bit more clear cut -- Heart of the Wild is designed for hybrids and Dream of Cenarius is more of a moonkin/tree thing. Nature's Vigil seems like the default choice for min/maxers for a single role.

The basic class changes are what makes it rough.

Ah, but you see, Heart of the Wild has a flat Agility increase, making it a very nice talent for Ferals, but Dream of Cenarius plays very well for a Feral as well combined with Nature's Swiftness and Predatory Swiftness (gives you free, instant heals castable in cat form from finishing moves). Currently Dream of Cenarius seems to be giving the biggest DPS numbers for Ferals.

And the 60 Level it may be a choice between Soul of the Forest and Incarnation depending on if you need burst or sustained DPS (haven't seen much numbers comparing those yet for ferals though).

So I think it might not be only utility, not for us ferals at least. But we'll see. :)

I missed the "castable in all forms"-stuff. That certainly changes a lot.

Still, the lvl 90's talents I'd probably roll Heart of the Wild if doing kitty rdf and one of the other two if going bear, raid, or premade.

The rest I can see my self switching out a lot depending on mood or what I was planning to do.

If you're talkin about since vanilla, the basic idea of the changes to talents is now "every talent you pick should be fun and interesting" - there are no more "1% more damage!" talents because those are dumb

So most of the "You take this talent or you fail" stuff is now folded into the spec. The choices now are 1 talent every 15 levels, for a total of 6. And each new talent choice is (in theory) something interesting, though it definitely feels to me like there's still clear choices for many of them.

and you can change talents like glyphs or something now too? or swap them easier?

I don't think so. Glyphs are still around as separate things, though it seems like most of them are utility or fun things now instead of being important gameplay decisions.

Careful you can't create pandas on the 28th. Once the expansion launches if you don't have it then you can make pandas.

Real, but it's a minor glyph. Other players can also ride you in this form.

I think they made it so stag is the default travel form art now, and there's a glyph that just makes it rideable, and another glyph that turns you back into a cheetah if you prefer the old art (no cheetah riding though)

I initially didn't have any interest in playing a Panda but some of the animations look really well done. So hard to go back to playing the original races after playing Goblin and even Blood Elf.

I Kept trying to get the girlfriend to stop playing wow (Raiding), the thing that finally made it click for her is when I asked if she was late for her shift when she logged in late for a raid. Then she quit when I referred to it as a job hehe
