Borderlands 2 for PC will predictably come with fancy graphics effects not found in the console versions. Among them is support for Nvidia PhysX. Accompanying today's announcement that the GTX 660 Ti will include a free copy of the game is a brand new video showing off the various particle and cloth effects that will be available only with GTX cards. While these features have no gameplay ramifications, they are quite dramatic.

Ok, that's it. Now I have to get it for PC. I wanted to get it on 360 to play co-op... but this is just too much. It already looks so much better on PC... this threw me over the edge though.

I'll probably end up getting it for both.. because I am weak.

Ahah! Looks like my faith in the Hybrid PhysX Setup has come through. My primary is ATi 4870 and my secondary is Nvidia 9800GT, dedicated for PhysX. Old cards yes, but they can learn new tricks.

I have a 7970 - is there a cheap nvidia pci-e card that I could use at the same time to get PhysX working properly?

I would not recommend it. It's hard to get working and sometimes doesn't work at all, it's a clusterfuck to get it working. Specific old drivers, etc.

Well, you could always grab a GTS450 or something reasonable for 80 bucks and give it a shot. I've had it working before, but it just always craps out whenever I tweak anything and I have to spend hours trying to get it working again. I feel your pain. I did have it working when I played through Arkham City and it was pretty awesome, I couldn't imagine playing the game without those Physx effects,

Wait if I have an old 9800 lying around I could use that! I DO have one lying around!

Now to find out if I have two PCIe slots

I don't think I've ever found any facts on whether or not a weaker dedicated Physx card will bottleneck your primary (faster) gpu(s). Perhaps davinci can chime if he reads this thread.

These posts really need to be formatted better. The title should be at the top, with the link to the article. Then the body text below it. And get rid of extra summary sentence. C'mon, gamefly!

The physX off shots - are those console shots? It looks like other things are turned off, other than physx
