Mists of Pandaria opening cinematic debuts

You really have to hand it to Blizzard. They sure have a way of making something appealing through their cinematics. Whether you like the idea of Kung Fu pandas in World of Warcraft or not, this new opening cinematic for Mists of Pandaria is pretty compelling.

The trailer even has a touch of humor, and a part of me kept waiting for Jack Black's voice to rumble forth sometime after the Pandaran's entrance. Just another reason to be intrigued by the September 25 launch of the expansion pack.

Pretty but not my fave cinematic. The hook of MoP is still pandas so if you weren't sold on them before, the cinematic isn't going to change your mind. ***I am excited for the xpac but mostly because as a ret pally, I get 5 holy power.

I liked Kung Fu Panda, so this just made me think of a grittier version of it with Orcs and humans ;)

The hook is they're going to back to focusing on the Horde Vs. Alliance conflict as opposed to the big baddy of the ex-pack like TBC, Wrath and Cata. The pandas are mostly a vehicle for that, in addition to a new race & class to play in the expansions.

Good thing i gave away all my gold, and my Guild Storage away. It's the only thing keeping me from going back to WOW, after SWTOR took a big dump.

As always, Blizzard knows how to make a good intro. Still looks like Kung Fu Panda.

Please explain how Blizzard's Pandaren "looks like" something that came AFTER Pandaren lore

All anthropomorphized pandas are going to look like Kung Fu panda. Blizzard's lore may have existed pre-Kung Fu Panda, but KFP made them look like this before Blizzard did anything more than a few small low-poly models in WC3.

There was more to Pandaren than just the low-poly models in WC3
But "All anthropomorphized pandas are going to look the same" <fixed>
            Blizzard is not copying KFP

the whole kung fu thing, environment AND what the panda did in the video when he righted the broken, tilted post seemed pretty Jack Black-esque. Almost like they intended a nod to the Dreamworks films. lol.

and the part where the human slowly hands the spear to the orc, as they both stand there with dumb looks on their faces.

I was mostly talking about the cinematic itself. It's shot just like the movies with the angles, the playfulness of the fighting, etc. It seems to have taken some influence from those films. I know that Pandaren are in WC3.

It looks like Kung Fu Panda because it is a panda doing kung fu.

This would have been a very short cinematic if the human had done the smart thing and just ducked, held the point of his stick straight up, and let the orc impale himself on it.

If I were a pointy stick warrior in a magical land of whimsy, that's what I would have done anyway.

Hardly compelling. Looks really, really, really dumb. Makes me glad I quit the game. Seriously.. unless you're 3, how do these things appeal to you?
