Sony debuted a handful of new PlayStation 3 titles at its Gamescom press briefing today, two of which hail from the company's Japan Studio. Rain (working title) and Puppeteer both carry some artsy-game chops, but in radically different directions.

A short teaser of Rain appeared like a quiet ghost story, with the titular weather pattern exposing a little boy who is otherwise invisible to the naked eye. It will be available on the PlayStation Network.

Puppeteer was a platformer with a found object art style reminiscent of the LittleBigPlanet series, in which the hero stole a pair of magic scissors and upset the land's evil ruler. Release windows weren't mentioned for either game, but Sony promised more details in the coming months.

Both games look pretty neat but Rain has really caught my attention with its premise. I wish they'd talked a bit more about that one like they did Puppeteer.
