Indie Uprising 3 kicks off in September
by Steve Watts, Aug 08, 2012 1:00pm PDTThe indie games on Xbox Live have staged two uprisings so far, and a third is on the way. The upcoming self-started indie games promotion will run September 10-20, and feature nine indie games in all -- one for each weekday during the promotion. A new trailer highlights the featured titles.
This year's line-up (via Joystiq) includes: the puzzle-platformer Gateways, the arcade documentary game qrth-phyl, the rogue-like Diehard Dungeon, the block-building game Xenominer, 3D puzzle title Entropy, first-person shooter Pixel, and strategy game Smooth Operators. A few single-man studios are also debuting new games: Michael Hicks' Sententia, and Chris Zukowski's City Tuesday.
The promotion first began in winter 2010 to bring more attention to the XBL indie games scene, and continued last year with the Summer Uprising. The ability to set release dates made the second Uprising run smoother than the first, and the picks can generally be trusted to find a few gems that appeal to your tastes. Previous notable titles include Speedrunner, Epic Dungeon, and Cthulu Saves the World.
