Star Trek has always had its share of enemies: The Klingons, the Romulans, the Borg. But Star Trek: Infinite Space finally encountered an enemy that German developer Gameforge could not overcome: the lack of interest in the game from potential partners.
"Since autumn 2011 we made many efforts to find a publishing and marketing partner for Star Trek: Infinite Space," the company said in a statement (translated from German by GamesIndustry International. "Unfortunately, our efforts were not successful. So we have decided with a heavy heart to finally abandon the project."
The developer/publisher had already had its share of troubles, laying off more than 100 people late last year and cancelling HellBreed and Mythos. The free-to-play Star Trek title was already hanging by a thread at that time, but the company had held out hope that it could find someone interested in helping with the game.
