Grid 2 racing out in 2013
by Alice O'Connor, Aug 08, 2012 6:00am PDTFollowing a cheeky tease last week, Codemasters today properly announced the return of its race 'em up series Grid in Grid 2. Headed to PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2013, Codies says it boasts a new handling system which should "hit a sweetspot between accessibility and simulation."
Grid 2 will offer four decades of "automotive icons" to zoom around in, on street, road and circuit tracks in places including Paris, Abu Dhabi and Miami. Multiplayer will offer a "unique progression system," and be tied up with Codemasters' RaceNet community doodad.
"We're pushing boundaries once again with what can be accomplished in the genre via new tools, technology and innovations. In single-player, split-screen and online, the next-generation of the Ego Game Technology Platform will power graphics, AI, handling and damage advancements that will immerse players in the racing experience like never before," executive producer Clive Moody said in the announcement.
Here's the announcement trailer and we do have a few screenshots, though do be aware that Codies has a habit of releasing media prettier than the actual game turns out to be:
