Minesweeper, Solitaire to get Achievements with Windows 8
by Steve Watts, Aug 07, 2012 12:15pm PDTBack in the day, we played games because games were fun. We didn't need superficial, largely arbitrary virtual baubles to congratulate us on bits of game progress. But, times have changed. In fact, Microsoft is adding Xbox Live Achievements to its iconic time-killers in Windows 8: Minesweeper and Solitaire.
Xbox 360 Achievements (via RPS) found the Achievements for those two titles and Majong, offering 50 Gamerscore apiece. They include achievements like triggering your first mine or finishing a board of each size in Minesweeper, flipping over your first card in Solitaire, and changing themes in Majong. Clearly, these aren't meant to be all that difficult.
On the bright side, if you were planning on upgrading to Windows 8 anyway, and you love Achievements, this sounds like an easy way to score 150G within the span of an hour or so.
