Metal Gear Solid 4 trophy patch also adds installation option

Next week's trophy patch for MGS4 adds a new option: the ability to install all of the game data to your hard drive, removing those pesky mid-game breaks.

Unless you enjoyed watching Snake smoke a cigarette, one of the most frustrating aspects of playing Metal Gear Solid 4 was enduring the lengthy mandatory installation screens between each chapter. It was a jarring process, one that interrupted the flow of the game (and was arguably worse than having to swap discs). Thankfully, next week's trophy patch for MGS4 also adds a new option: the ability to install all of the game data to your hard drive, removing these pesky mid-game breaks.

If you're curious about what trophies you'll be able to collect once you dust off your copy of MGS4, here's a small selection. The rest can be found on the PlayStation.Blog. Be warned! There are some spoilers in the list.

  • (Bronze) You enjoy all the killing, that’s why

Killed many enemies in one area, and vomited.

  • (Bronze) Divine Wind

Caused a “divine wind” using the Tanegashima.

  • (Bronze) Emotion Control

Controlled an enemy soldier’s emotions using an Emotive Magazine.

  • (Bronze) That Tune Is His Mind Control Music

Played Oishii Two-han Seikatsu and made one of the BB Corps dance.

  • (Silver) Can you feel my power now!!!?

Took control of an enemy soldier’s body using the Mantis Doll or Sorrow Doll.

  • (Silver) You’re pretty good.

Got kissed by Ocelot during the final battle.

  • (Gold) Sounds of the Battlefield

Obtained all iPod® tracks (excluding tracks obtained via password).

  • (Gold) I am THE expert on weapons, equipment and cutting-edge technology.

Obtained all weapons (excluding weapons obtained via password).

  • (Platinum) The Legendary Hero

    Obtained all trophies.

While at first glance, it may look easy to get the Platinum, do note that in order to get all the weapons (and therefore, the Platinum), you'll need to play through the game with no alerts, no kills, and no continues on The Boss Extreme mode in under five hours--all while not using any healing items or stealth camo or bandanas. Essentially, you are not going to get this Platinum.
