Report: ToeJam & Earl headed to PlayStation 3

Sega is reportedly planning to release both ToeJam & Earl and its sequel, Panic on Fonkotron, to PlayStation 3 as "Vintage Collection" releases.

The Sega Genesis classics ToeJam & Earl and its sequel, Panic on Funkotron, may be hitting the PlayStation 3 soon. Sega has been adding titles to the PlayStation Network as part of their "Vintage Collection" line, and sources claim the bizarre duo is about to have its day.

Siliconera reports that sources claim the early 90s titles are the next slated games, which seems believable enough. The branded Vintage Collections have included games like Sonic and the Monster World series, and we know Sega remembers the ToeJam & Earl series due to its PC re-release last year.

If you're under the age of 25, you might think "ToeJam & Earl" is a terrible name. And you are correct. But the 16-bit era brought us Boogerman and Earthworm Jim, so many of us fondly remember when the industry joined in thinking potty humor was hilarious.

Haha, that game was soooo fun. At least that is what nostalgia says.

Yeah nostalgia can get you. Like I thought the Simpsons arcade game was fucking awesome, but then I played it again and realized how terrible it was.

The Simpsons, like X-Men, and Golden Axe were really meant to be played with a bunch of people at once. Preferably all sitting in the same room. Playing alone kinda sucks :(

              :( Well that sucks.

I have such good memories of playing with a bunch of random fucks at an arcade. I think half of it was being in a seedy arcade, but yeah.

I've still got these games sitting in a closet in upstate NY. I really should call my mom and see if she would send out giant Sega box of goodness.

Great. Now the level 1 theme music is stuck in my head.

I really loved how the levels were both randomized, and vertically oriented. Falling down multiple levels due to a shitty break with rocket skates, or trying to get to the lemonade stand on the secret level was always kinda neat.
