Square Enix: Final Fantasy Versus 13 still alive
by Alice O'Connor, Jul 24, 2012 6:45am PDTLast week, an unconfirmed rumour was swirling that Square Enix had quietly cancelled Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which we've barely seen since it was announced in 2006. Untrue, Square Enix said today, this is a load of poppycock, and development is coming along swimmingly.
Company president Yoichi Wada denied the rumour on Twitter in Japanese (via Andriasang), which Eurogamer has translated thusly:
There's someone making a false rumour that Versus was cancelled. Haha... just a minute ago, the regular Versus meeting ended. If you saw the presentation of the city, it'd knock you off your feet - lol.
So there you have it, if you believe the president of the company making the game over an unconfirmed rumour--which can be a difficult call at times, but seems relatively straightforward here. Look, here's an old Versus XIII trailer full of shiny things to dazzle, delight and distract you:
Splinter Cell Blacklist co-op modes partially detailed
FIFA 14 on PC won't use Ignite engine
Ace Attorney Trilogy coming to iOS next week
Far Cry 3 editor jazzed up with Blood Dragon shinies
Epic Mickey 2 for Vita coming June 18
Poker Night 2 antes up on iOS
Warhammer Quest hitting iOS May 30
Super Stardust dev making 'spiritual successor' for PS4
