Interstate '82 screeches onto GOG

GOG is dishing up another plate of vehicular combat, digging Interstate '82 out of obscurity and putting it on sale for posterity. Activision's sequel to the funkadelic Interstate '76 costs $5.99. '82 is more arcadey than '76, and appropriately decked out in '80s glam rather than '70s groove. You can also get out of your car in '82, to shoot men with a gun or to hop into another car. It's not as good, if my memory serves me correctly, but there aren't many car combat games with characters named things like Groove Champion and Taurus, so it could be worth a punt. Head on over to GOG to buy it, where you can also pick up Interstate '76 for $5.99.

  The only good thing from that game was the soundtrack. And even then, I-76's was better overall. I'd spend the extra $10 for I-76 in a heartbeat - if I didn't still have my original.

  I know Interstate 76 is known as the better one, but i remember this being one of the first games i played when i got my own pc so i have great memories of it, might have to pick it up.
  
  Though maybe it's better it stays as a memory lol.

    If this had been the first game in the series, it would have been great. As a SHITTY SEQUeL, it was...a shitty sequel.

      Yer i can understand that, watching some videos of Interstate 76 on youtube i can see why, tempted to pick up 76 at some point and try that.

        it was fucking fantastic, and the multiplayer was even better. you could hex edit your car files and go into battle with a rainbow colored school bus with a tank turret on it's side. Yes, I said side.

        Unfortunately, dudes used that to make Vettes with 5 Minigun Turrets, or 5 Seeker Missiles. This is how we discovered that Engine Off and coasting works to break Tracking.

  i82 was awesome up to a point. I think it was a bit short though, and I hated the final boss.
  
  I really want a new i game, in the vein of i76.

  I'76 is to this day one of my all time favorites, but I'82 barely registers for me to be honest.

    It had strong force feedback with the microsoft flightstick. I miss the music the most.

      I miss the mp mods for that... the original death races on that game were fantastic.

  I really wish someone would update I76. I bought it the day it came to GOG and was really disappointed at how poorly it aged. Engine was originally written for one of the Mechwarrior games and it was blatantly obvious -- the car moved more like a mech than a car. Big bummer.
