Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault adds tower defense 'twist'
by Steve Watts, Jul 18, 2012 10:00am PDTThe lovable furry-robot team are returning in Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault. While this latest iteration promises to return the franchise to the classic gameplay the franchise is known for, Insomniac is adding a new twist to the formula. On top of the arsenal-heavy shooting and platforming, Full Frontal will introduce a tower defense element.
You'll be building your defenses based on the clever tools that the series is known for, and racing around to fend off enemies on your own as well. You can choose between playing Ratchet, Clank, or Captain Qwark, fending off the alien army across five different levels.
The game also packs split-screen co-op, and an online mode to be detailed later. Of course, not everyone likes change. Community manager James Stevenson reassured fans on the PlayStation.Blog that "it's a tower defense twist--not a full on TD game. It's still the same Ratchet action you love, but you now have an additional layer of strategy in building and defending your base."
As previously reported, Full Frontal Assault is a PSN exclusive, so we can probably expect a downloadable price point for it. It's due sometime this fall.
