Laughter is the best medicine, so They say, so North American PlayStation 3s are about to become miracle cure-alls with the addition of a new The Laugh Factory Live app. For a $3 monthly fee, with a free trial period, it'll dispense both live comedy shows and vintage performances from the comedy club chain's archives.

The Laugh Factory Live will launch on September 1, PlayStation Blog explains, and it'll all be free until December.

That's it, really. What do you want, a punchline?

Honestly Im excited for this. If they have good, non-processed stand-up this could be a breath of fresh air from what is traditionally available in the marketplace.

HBO used to have old reruns from the mid 90s from live at the apollo uncut and on demand and it was brilliant for a good laugh.

It's really hard to find good stand-up video, so I'll definitely check it out.

yep, stand-up is one of my favorite things in the world, so $3 a month isn't half bad, especially if the bring in new content regularly
