Sam Raimi no longer directing WoW movie
by Alice O'Connor, Jul 18, 2012 6:00am PDTSpider-Man and The Evil Dead director Sam Raimi signed up to direct the long-planned World of Warcraft movie adaptation way back in 2009, but we've heard little about it since. At Comic-Con, though, Raimi revealed that he's no longer on the project, but it does seem to be going ahead.
"Actually, they don't have me directing World of Warcraft anymore because when I took the Oz job, they had to move on to another director," Raimi told Crave Online (via IGN). "They had to start making it."
So Legendary Pictures is making it, then, or at least they were when Raimi joined the Wizard of Oz prequel. There's no word on who replaced him, and who could possibly say when, or even if, this production will join the glittering pantheon of video game movie adaptations?
