Hey, remember Final Fantasy Versus XIII? The long-in-development action title has been eagerly awaited by fans since its unveiling in 2006. Although little progress appears to have been made on the game, that isn't stopping Square Enix from releasing DLC from the game.

Wait, what? "Somnus," the theme song heard in all the trailers so far, will be available for purchase in Theatrhythm. It's pretty much the closest thing to a playable version of Versus XIII fans will get for a long time.

"Somnus" is available today, as well as three other songs. Each song is available to download for 99 cents via the in-game store. Here's the full schedule of DLC:

July 12, 2012

1. Somnus (FINAL FANTASY Versus XIII)

2. Desperate Struggle (FINAL FANTASY XIII)

3. Sarutabaruta (FINAL FANTASY XI)

4. Battle (FINAL FANTASY VI)

July 19, 2012

1. Fight On! (FINAL FANTASY VII)

2. Etro's Champion (FINAL FANTASY XIII-2)

3. Battle Theme (FINAL FANTASY XI)

4. Battle 1 (FINAL FANTASY III)

July 26, 2012

1. A contest of Aeon (FINAL FANTASY X)

2. The Archylte Steppe (FINAL FANTASY XIII)

3. The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah (FINAL FANTASY XI)

4. Crystal Cave (FINAL FANTASY III)

You just can't make this crap up, what is Square-Enix thinking over there? Hey here you go a song from a game that we might or might not release. Maybe they are thinking if they sell enough of this DLC pack they can finance the game to completion.

Remember back when they bought Eidos? Back then, could you have imagined that Eidos would be CARRYING Square, financially speaking?

I really don't understand what is going on with that company, at times. I understand, e.g., extending a successful franchise to increase profits...but this continuation of FXIII...it wasn't a terrible (im fact, it was good), but did it sell well?

So many Square-Enix haters, at least they offer a new and different experience with each Final Fantasy instead of rehashing the same game, particularly VII over and over again which is what the nay-sayers are wanting. If you want to play the same game repeatedly, play the Tales series.

        @ JeanLucAwesome

Except now that is exactly what Square-Enix is doing, they are rehashing the same game over and over again with Final Fantasy XIII, then XIII-2 and now the rumored XIII-3, at the high point of Final Fantasy games we as fans never would have thought of an actual sequel to a FF game and now there are going to be 2 of them to a game that a large majority of people didn't particularly care for? I personally hated FF XIII and I put about 40 hours into it, but I've played every single FF game (baring FF XI and XIV because of the whole MMO online thing) and FF XIII felt to me so far away from what a Final Fantasy game should be that I was floored they thought a sequel would be a good idea. That they think it deserves a trilogy is beyond my complete and total understanding. I'm not a Square hater, far from it, but the direction that company is going is mind boggling to me. Just saying. I guess I'm just saying that if Square-Enix is going to keep releasing games like FF XIII why not get out games that the other side wants as well like FF Versus XIII, the remake of FF VII, the HD remaster of X and Kingdom Hearts 3. Oh well what do I know I'm just the consumer...
