Want to pick up Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for cheap? You may want to pick up the PS3 version, as it's part of a returning summer promotion called "PSN Play."

The 2012 edition of Play includes four games: The Expendables 2, Sound Shapes, Papo & Yo, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Each game will retail for $14.99, but PlayStation Plus members get a 20% discount. As with other similar promotions, buying more games will entitle you to a bigger discount. Buying 2 games will give you a $3 rebate, 3 will give you $6, while purchasing all 4 will give you $10 back.

That means PlayStation Plus members will be able to net the entire collection of PSN Play games for only $37.96 (after $10 rebate).

The Expendables 2 will be the first game on offer, available on July 31st--before any other digital distribution service. Pre-orders will be open a week earlier, netting early adopters a free XMB theme of the game.

Sound Shapes, one of our most anticipated games, will be next on August 7th, and a single purchase will unlock both the PS3 and PS Vita versions of the game.

Papo & Yo follows on August 14th, while CS:GO closes off the promo on August 21st.

I wonder if Valve will go all Portal 2 on the release of CS:GO in that if you buy the PSN version you get the Steam version for free.

Nope. This release doesn't support cross-play, unfortunately.

I dunno cross platform between console and PC sounds unfair to me, maybe a co-op thing but not competitive.
