Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 still alive, but 'evolved'

Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 is still in active development, but is "evolving" according to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford.

We've heard nary a peep out of Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 since its debut at E3 2011. We even noted its conspicuous absence from this year's gaming conference, and wondered what that might mean for the game. According to Gearbox Software, though, the game still exists, but has taken a few steps away from what we saw before.

"I'm looking forward to being able to talk about Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 soon," said Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford.

The game has "evolved," he told CVG. "I think people are going to be surprised by what they'll see, and it's still evolving," he said. "One of the reasons why we're not talking about it now is that it's evolving and we need to make further changes before we can start talking about it."

In addition to the game still shifting, Pitchford cited other projects closer to release that are taking up more of Gearbox's promotion efforts. "Borderlands 2 ships in September, so we're spending most of our time talking about that, and Aliens Colonial Marines comes out after that in February. I might come around to talk about Furious Four between the releases of Borderlands 2 and Aliens: Colonial Marines, but certainly I won't before the release of Borderlands 2."

it would take them 4 games to realise that the covering fire system alone doesnt make for a good game. it was fun for the first hour or so then became tedious. hope it remains in the same setting but I doubt it

Simple solution: rename it Bastards in Arms

It keeps the Brothers in Arms fans from being pissed off that someone dipped Borderlands into their WW2 shooter, and it communicates the truth: that they're going for the Inglorious Basterds alternate WW2 feel.

This looks terrible for something called "Band of Brothers". I can't imagine the guys behind the previous games can be too pleased either.

See my point above - they should rename it.
