Devil's Third planned for 'digital devices'

Valhalla Game Studios has announced that Devil's Third is planned not just for consoles and PC, but also "a wide range digital devices."

Now that Valhalla Game Studios has snagged the rights to Devil's Third, the company is detailing more of its plans for the title. In a statement formally announcing the rights transfer, Valhalla CEO Satoshi Kanematsu said it will bring the game to "a wide range of digital devices."

The statement didn't outline precisely what it meant by those devices, but it did say those releases are in addition to the existing plans for PC and consoles. In fact, the studio is looking into other outlets for the franchise as well, like manga, novels, animation, and film.

Last we heard, the game is planned for early 2013, and Valhalla is considering putting it on Wii U as well. It sounds a lot like the studio is intent on making a big investment in the game, so it wouldn't be surprising to see it hit the new Nintendo system.

It was great of THQ to get them back their own IP. I hope they find someone to help put it out. Because it looks awesome.

All this talk about Devil's Third lately, but since the game's reveal two years ago, we have yet to see how the game currently looks and we know even less about how it plays. What is the point of announcing additional platforms when you're not giving your audience a reason to care? I want to give Itagaki the benefit of the doubt, but let's be honest, up against any of the modern Ninja Gaiden games (including the current one), those very early vids looked like ASS. Valhalla must be really, really confident in this game to have shown so little yet still expect that there will be an audience for it when it arrives.
