Sony making new PS3 model
by Steve Watts, Jul 05, 2012 11:30am PDTSony is releasing a fourth version of its PlayStation 3 console. But will it be any slimmer than the currently available Slim model? The most recent revision, CECH-3000, was lighter weight and drew less power--but didn't offer a different chassis. According to the latest FTC documentation, a forthcoming model of the PS3 might offer a new design.
A NeoGAF thread (via CVG) found the FCC filing, noting that it had a new model number of CECH-4000. The internal specs of the system seem unchanged, but users noted the label has changed position which could indicate a new form factor for the system.
Shacknews has contacted Sony regarding the filing, and will update as more information becomes available.
