Hotline Miami bringing 80s ultraviolence to PC

Thanks toGrand Theft Auto: Vice City and the movie Drive, I dream of committing gross acts of ultraviolence in a neon haze while smooth synths zwang out. So Hotline Miami is just the sort of thing I'm looking for, announced yesterday by publisher Devolver Digital.

Following the bidding of strange messages on your answerphone, Hotline Miami will have you murdering many men in terrible ways across 25 levels. There are 35 weapons in all, killing moves, and 25 collectible masks which are somehow "game-altering." It's an arcadey bloodbath, see.

Developed by Dennaton Games, Hotline Miami is coming to PC and Mac "soon." A console version is planned too, Devolver says. If you're feeling particularly bold, you can phone the Hotline on +1 (786) 519-3708, but don't be surprised if someone comes round to kick your teeth in.

That looks awesome. God knows how many hours I've sunk into GTA2. I miss that brutal, top down style of gameplay.

I'm struggling to see the appeal :( I really want to as well since the idea is nice, but the gameplay just looks too retro and archaic.
