Seth Killian, co-founder of the EVO fighting game tournament, has signed up with Sony Santa Monica Studio as lead game designer for fight 'em up PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and other externally-developed games. Killian was formerly Capcom USA's strategic marketing director of online and community, leaving on June 22.

"Fighting games are very close to my heart, and as someone that's spent much of my life with traditional fighters, All-Stars has been a great opportunity to take a step back and rethink fighting fundamentals from the ground up," Killian wrote on the PlayStation Blog.

"The entire team was put together from scratch to create this game, and they are loaded with fighting game superstars (including some impressive tournament credentials--I'm not even the first EVO finalist to join the team!) who love great combat just as much as I do."

In his goodbye message at Capcom, Killian wrote, "I have chosen a new path which will let me embrace a new dream, but to everyone that ever believed in this dream we shared together, let me say this final thanks."

While this certainly seems like a great move for Sony, I'm interested to see what influence he's going to have on PASBR this late in the cycle.

maybe he will assist in balance when they start patching it...you're right, the game looked pretty much done when I saw it on Game Trailers...

Not really excited by this move, because even with Seth working on it, I'm probably going to have no interest in PS All Stars. But I'm sure it will be a better situation for him than at Capcom.

I don't really know, I am mostly assuming because I would think he'd only leave Capcom if he had issues with them, and also because of how recently Yoshi Ono has spoke out about how shitty they treat him.

There's been a lot of reports of Capcom overworking their internal developers.

Ono was just the first time anyone had gotten a glimpse of how worn out they were getting.

That's really too bad...I suspect the worst when it comes to developing these kinds of huge projects nowadays.
