Despite launching well after its console counterparts, the PC version of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has met criticism from players over a myriad of serious issues. The most critical issue appears to affect control input. "WASD and mouse in game do absolutely nothing," one fan noted. "I don't have any game pads hooked up and I'm not the only one with this issue."

The list of complaints on Ubisoft's forums is quite lengthy. There are some complaints about resolution, with the game locked to 720p, regardless of resolution selected. Others cannot launch the game due to a resolution conflict. In-game menus display Xbox buttons, even without a controller plugged in. Changing button maps won't save, according to another user.

According to Gamespot, "the team is working agressively to correct any issues as soon as possible," however one has to wonder why these serious issues were not addressed during the month-long delay the PC version faced. "As we all know UBI loves to blame PC game delays on piracy. Clearly it's not a piracy issue, it's an incompetence issue. This game is NOT finished," one user lamented.

Ubisoft is full of complete jackasses that don't know a fucking thing about the PC gaming market. I don't know why I'm always amazed when I hear Ubisoft and PC in the same sentence regarding complete fuck ups.

Yeah, this game definitely has some issues despite it being pretty fun.

I was playing with Poor Yurik and a bunch of his buddies last night and oh, man...were there issues. :(

It's unfortunate because we're all really enjoying the game thus far.

Yep, I had a great time playing despite the bugs. Socio's inexplicable slow loading issue was pretty bad. At least the maps started getting much longer between loads.

Luckily the biggest issue I had was fixed when I verified files through Steam and it reacquired 1 file that didn't download properly. Unfortunately I think a lot of people got hit with the same issue, and many of them haven't tried validating the files.

My review so far is basically this:

The good: 4 player coop in it is fairly awesome so far (about 4 missions in) and the guerilla mode looks like a great game mode with relatively a lot of content compared to other games' horde modes.

The bad: but there are a ton of little bugs I'm surprised made it past even rudimentary testing. Also, the pvp is incredibly inferior to Ghost Recon Online's closed beta, mainly because the sprint mechanic is terribly ported to the PC from analog controls.

Also, host migration is fine if it is rare in most games. Like I didn't mind it in Space Marine. But in this, the way they handle host migration is pretty idiotic. It puts everyone back in spawn and resets the current objective. The same complaint was leveled at the console versions, so maybe, just maybe they will patch the game quickly but I'm not holding my breath. At least the coop is great.

If you want to play the pvp game I was hoping Future Soldier would be, get a key for the Ghost Recon Online closed beta, or wait for it to go open beta in a month or two.

Archvile, the game has a ton of pc-centric options in the menus.

Some people are having input issues, but I wouldn't say it is a widespread thing happening to everyone.

I am surprised at the locked to 720p comment, I'm running the game at 1080 and it looks like 1080 to me. Not sure what is meant by that.

A lot of games these days show controller stuff next to m+k because many pc games have built-in support for 360 controllers. As long as the m + k controls are good and configurable, it is a non-issue. However, there is a big problem with how the mouse input works when you sprint. It is incredibly touchy to the point of being ridiculous and clearly a bad functionality port from the console analog sticks. Like I said, I hope they fix that asap but I'm not holding my breath :(

Also, DX11 support + higher res textures. It looks like a PC game. Unfortunately (many) bugs are definitely present.

I agree with you its true. Shame if it weren't for the bugs I would of posted last night as to what a quality port it is, I was personally waiting for the multi screen fix which they are making and will drop in a week or two to make a final judgement.

I agree its totally mental how these where left un fixed or even tested I mean if you use a key board it might be a good idea to make sure key binding works.

As to the delay I don't think there is any question about that it is using a bran new DX11 engine so that takes time.

Even with this mess up(not like other companies have not screwed up PC ports before there is a massive list) I will not single them out on average their PC ports have been very solid. So I guess I will be patient and give them a benefit of the doubt for they have said they will fix all the issues and that is what matters. Such a shame :(

Side note : for the love of god maybe test the PC ports before you release them if its not ready delay the freaking thing, this goes for all companies not just Ubisoft we have seen it too many times.

I love that my quote was used. I want those assholes to know how we really feel!! Here was the whole post.

So at least we can confirm something here - as we all know UBI loves to blame PC game delays on piracy. Clearly it's not a piracy issue, it's an incompetence issue. This game is NOT finished, 6 more months wouldn't help, 2 more years wouldn't help. Stuff is broken and doesn't work.

UBI next time you delay a game - be honest and tell us - "Game delayed because we've become a company geared towards consoles and we don't know an effing thing about how to release a proper PC game."

You can shove your piracy argument next time - we all know its bunk and this has absolutely confirmed that.

If they spent more time on game dev then fighting piracy they wouldn't have to worry about piracy cause people would buy their games.

I think Ubisoft is trying to kill off their PC market and get all the customers to buy the Console version instead. The Price of console versions drop slower and they might be making a bit more profit.

      http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/687362-UBI-needs-to-focus-more-on-quality-and-less-on-DRM-Want-sales

I think the botched release of Future Soldier confirms the reason for the delays. But UBI still insists 95% of PC gamers are just outright pirates.

An exceprt from an article from Nov 2011:
"If released online, 95 percent of PC gamers would download Future Soldier illegally, Ghost Recon Online senior producer Sebastien Arnoult believes, and Online is a direct reaction to that assumption. "To the users that are traditionally playing the game by getting it through Pirate Bay, we said, 'Okay, go ahead guys. This is what you're asking for. We've listened to you -- we're giving you this experience. It's easy to download, there's no DRM that will pollute your experience,'" Arnoult tells PC Gamer."

You cannot honestly try to blame poor sales on piracy when games as incomplete as Future Soldier are making it to the market in this pre-Alpha status. Maybe a little less focus on DRM and piracy and a lot more focus on the quality of the title would provide profitable sales. The lack of game demos today make it hard for PC gamers to part with their $60.. on the other hand, if my demo was based on the 1.1 or 1.2 version of Future Soldier I'm 110% convinced it would've actually hurt sales more than anything.

So - I think this is a great learning opportunity for UBI. Quit blowing the "piracy" horn and accusing 95% of PC gamers of piracy as we can now confidently state 99% of the UBI PC development team is incompetent. And!, we have the proof to back it up with Future Soldier. We are tired of being accused of stealing everything, seriously the argument is old, tired and annoying. We are happy to buy a quality product, look at the sales figures from Diablo 3.

I'm hoping to see a patch that resolves some of these issues soon. At this point the game looks worse than the console version of the game. However, rolling back to 1.0 the game actually looks good. I'm sure UBI is embarrassed and humiliated at the release of Future Soldier for PC as all of the gaming news websites have picked up the stories about the issues and bugs. Its about time karma came back for the piracy crap. Enjoy the karma guys -
