Activision registers China-related Call of Duty domains
by Steve Watts, Jun 27, 2012 1:00pm PDTActivision has registered several domain names related to Call of Duty and China -- not to be confused with Chinese domain names. The company registered 17 in all, with names like CallOfDutyChina.com, BlackOpsChina.com, and ModernWarfareChina.com.
Fusible (via Joystiq) reports that the registration also included several English spellings of Chinese phrases, like HeiseXingDong.com and XianDaizHanZheng.com. The story of Black Ops 2 focuses on tensions between the United States and China due to precious metal reserves.
It's unknown if this slew of registrations is related to that, or if Activision is just protecting its brand with a ton of domains. It could also relate to the company's digital F2P game slated for the area.
