4X strategy Endless Space blasts off next week

Is there something missing in your life, something you can't quite place your finger on? It may very be what psychologists refer to as a 'space-based 4X strategy void.' Treatment, then, may come in the form of Endless Space, which publisher Iceberg has announced will hit PC on July 4.

Developed by Amplitude Studios, Endless Space all the eXploration, eXpansion, eXploitation and eXtermination one would expect from the classic PC genre, having you juggle economy, diplomacy, science, war, and all that jazz. You've got eight civilizations to choose from as you set out to conquer the galaxy in your own way.

Endless Space will cost $30. Rocket on over to the official site for more information. Here's an older trailer teasing the alpha access offered as a pre-order bonus.

Have you gotten a chance to play/test it?

Wonder if it plays similar to galactic civilizations?

It's $26 on Steam and it's really fun. Not really like Gal Civ more like MOO.

If it indeed is closer to MOO then it's a buy. Thx for the recommendation.

Galactic Civilizations pales in comparison to Endless Space.

            I disagree, but it's been a while since I've played GalCiv2.

Endless Space is a great game, but I think that comparing it to Gal Civ is a bad idea. They play in very different ways, with very different styles. Gal Civ is definitely broader, and gives the player more options in how to play the game. Endless Space is more focused of an experience.

Is this the one with no tactical combat? :(

Depends how you look at it. Yeah its turn based, and at most its three turns long. But the tactical side is how you upgrade your ships, offense/defense, weapon types, make up of fleet.... you should be scouting the enemy ships and making counters as necessary. Its as simple as you want it to be but there is *some* depth, just don't expect a chess match.
