Minecraft creator Mojang is getting ready to start rolling out its next game Scrolls in a Minecraftian manner. Following a closed alpha test, the deck-building boardgame will enter open beta and everyone will be able to buy at a discount and play while Mojang finishes making it.

Those lucky enough to get picked for the "rapidly approaching" closed alpha will get to play multiplayer matches, single-player AI matches, and mess around with the deck builder, Mojang co-founder Jakob Porser explained. As it moves into open beta, Mojang plans to add the single-player world where players can explore and get new scrolls.

As with Minecraft, new features will be added throughout the open beta. An auction house, character customisation, items, quests, and more are planned.

Mojang has also relaunched the Scrolls website, so hit it for more information.

Looks kind of dull. However, card games like this never really interested me. Regardless, it doesn't make me want to try it at all

I played it at Minecon last year and it was really cool. Good art style and it was fairly competitive.

As a fan of Might and Magic (not the card games) and King's Bounty I can say this looks pretty interesting.

Looks very niche. I won't be buying this, but I certainly wont be part of the crowd who says notch is a one trick pony. That being said, Mojang needs to hire some petter artists.

        That's a huge pony though.

I agree that Scrolls need far more better looking cards.

I really don't think notch had a whole lot to do with this one. It's his company but he's not working on it.

Scrolls looks like a cool game, but I can't help but think that without scrolls, the team would have had a better infrastructure to focus on minecraft before release.

I will pass on this completely, never enjoyed card games, but its cool that Notch makes what motivates him. "Minecraft 2" would have been what many would have done, for the monis, you know.

Looks pretty polished. At least a million times more than Minecraft did when it was in alpha.

One million animations of running back and forth?

      No. Thanks.
