New Super Mario Bros 2 will offer paid DLC
by Andrew Yoon, Jun 22, 2012 4:27am PDTWhen Nintendo said New Super Mario Bros 2 was all about the money, they weren't kidding. Nintendo has announced that New Super Mario Bros 2 will be the first game in the company's history to offer for-pay DLC after launch. Additional "Coin Rush" stages will be developed after the game comes out.
Although this may signal a change in Nintendo's strategy, NOA president Reggie Fils-Aime was quick to point out that NSMB2 will be "full featured," and that no content is being removed for the purposes of being made into DLC.
He says that there are no additional details to offer because the levels "haven't even been made yet," poking fun at other publishers that announce DLC details well before a game's launch. In addition to NSMB2, Nintendo has announced that the upcoming Fire Emblem game will also offer paid DLC.

It's one thing to say you can support DLC, great. Or regularly-added new content. But if it is DLC just frickin' add it to the actual product!!!
