Hideo Kojima 'not yet finished with Solid Snake'

Hideo Kojima just can't quit Metal Gear Solid. While little is known about Metal Gear Solid 5, it appears likely that it will somehow involve its iconic gravely-voiced star, Snake. "We have not yet finished with Solid Snake," designer Hideo Kojima said, adding "despite the fact that I wanted to let him die at the end of Guns of the Patriots."

Speaking to IG Magazine (via CVG), Kojima talked about the upcoming sequel. "About Metal Gear Solid 5, I can tell you two things. There will be much question of infiltration, espionage, and convincing people to give you 'a favor' like in the last Metal Gear Solid."

Kojima is often frank about drawing inspiration from other games, and it appears MGS5 will be no different. One surprising game that Kojima points to is Deus Ex: Human Revolution. "I liked the idea of social interactions in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but we will see. And if I say more, the female ninja public relations officer, who is behind the door, I will be carved up into pieces. So it's better that we meet again when the time comes to talk about Metal Gear Solid 5."

I will play full price for MGS4 again if they would put the original MGS theme in it.

I will pay full price for MGS4 if the made it less ridiculous, but that's not gonna happen.

MGS4 wasn't too bad. There was a ridiculous amount of cut scenes that for sure but the gameplay was at least solid once you get past the learning curve of its controls.

Enemy AI was challenging and not stupid.
Boss fights were definitely well designed and engaging (and good boss fights have been really rare lately)
          Good variety of environments

I think the only real thing that was missing was a "final challenge". There was the fist fight at the end with Ocelot but that's more of a refrained last boss much like how the other games ended with a fist fight after a "final challenge" against a giant weapon.

I definitely wasn't a fan of following the resistance member around the city. That part just gave nothing but headaches. It was definitely a change of pace, but made me unupholster my couch with my bare hands.

I think the game lacked in CODEC conversations. Not that this is a good or bad thing. It's just a change of pace. The other games had sort of an exploration element to "test and see if they say something new" in different parts of the game. I think this could have been particularly a good thing to employ during the fight against Vamp. That took me weeks to figure out and I was hoping CODEC would give me the answers I desired. Oh well, you can't pull a Psycho Mantis twice I guess.

As far as being a fan of the lore goes, I think they did an amazing job tying everything up. Not many stories in tv, movies, and games do a good job at this. Usually they just write themselves in a corner.
