Xbox Live Rewards to be given for Achievements

by Steve Watts, Jun 19, 2012 2:00pm PDT

The Xbox Live Rewards program has been regularly awarding gamers on a monthly basis. By participating in a variety of activities and by answering a monthly survey, gamers are able to earn Microsoft Points to purchase content on Xbox Live. A new move announced today might enable hardcore gamers to earn even more: by rewarding gamers for their Achievements.

On Twitter, Microsoft promised "a new way to earn Rewards based on your Achievements!" Although many fans asked for more, the Twitter account simply promises of more details to come.

The announcement doesn't necessarily promise Microsoft Points, but that's been the most common reward in the loyalty program. In concept, this seems like a smart way to encourage the most heavy players who are probably playing (and paying) the most on the platform. Finally, your Gamerscore can be worth something--an infinite percentage increase over the nothing it's currently worth.
