  • Okay, I finally read all of the article. God damn that page loads nasty in Netscape. Try disabling style sheets, it helps.

Anyways, after reading it all, I have one thing on my mind:

    Pro gamers are not professional.

I like some of the gamers opinions, like Makaveli (for a guy who gets a lot of flak, he sounded pretty reasonable here). Then there's the middle of the road biased players, which is okay I guess. And then there's the cream of the crop, the biased of the biased, the most narrow minded of them all. vise comes to mind.

Starcraft, Q3A, UT, CS, all can be competitive. iD isn't the end all and be all of competition games anymore. Get over it, and stop equating pro gaming with low IQs.

  • there's room for many more games than ut and q3a. i think that this is an important step in the right direction. limiting themselves to one game (q3 or ut) would be the cpl's worst mistake. i think the best method would be to diversify, either with multiple games at one event, or seperate events for seperate games. it's good that they're finally seeing the huge market that exists for games other than q3. i'd personally like to see some big money put on a tournament for homeworld, counter-strike, etc. the key to success for professional gaming is diversity.
