Journey dev going multiplatform

thatgamecompany, developer of flOw, Flower, and Journey, is no longer a PlayStation-exclusive studio. With the studio's three game contract with Sony now over, the company has confirmed plans to expand into a multiplatform studio.

"Many of you have asked what's coming up next for TGC and whether our games can be played on other platforms. I have good news for you," studio co-founder Jenova Chen said.

"Today I am pleased to announce thatgamecompany has raised funding to develop and release our games independently," co-founder Jenova Chen announced. "This enables us to bring our games to more platforms and provide our players the highest quality experience at every point of contact."

Enabling TGC's transition to a fully independent studio is funding from Benchmark Capital. While Chen doesn't offer any more details on the studio's next title, it's largely believed to be an online game.
