My Xbox Live app now available on Android

Microsoft's "My Xbox Live" app is now available on Android devices.

Microsoft's "My Xbox Live" app is now available on Android devices. First available on Windows Phone and later on iOS, the app lets you sign into Xbox Live, message friends, view achievements, and customize your Avatar. You can also see recent Xbox Live updates via Spotlight.

The iOS version of the app has also been updated. The "Discover" feature will let you find Xbox content from your phone to play on your console. You'll also be able to use your iOS device as a remote control for your Xbox 360. The app has also been updated with retina display support, for you iPad-totin' Xbox fans out there.

Major Nelson points out that the rollout of this app is not related to SmartGlass, revealed at E3 last week. "Yes, we do intend to bring Xbox SmartGlass to several platforms over time, but have no details to share right now."

        I'm sure there are poor people on the internet and elsewhere who can understand that their crappy old phone won't support certain software features. I'll chalk this one up to stupid people (with crappy phones) on the internet.

        Is this for real? It's the users' fault that their Android devices get left behind and have support dropped prematurely? It's not unreasonable to expect a phone to last 2-3 years so unless they're talking about pre-2.0 devices I don't see where it's their problem.
        
        Not to turn this into one of those threads, but isn't iOS6 even coming out for the 3GS? Man do I not miss waiting for Android updates.

        You see this problem all over the place with people trying to cling to ancient hardware for long past its prime. How many XP and Pentium 4 or pre-Core2/Phenom boxes that are probably still floating out there today? I am sure its a lot judging by a lot of the same reviews people leave for PC games.
