Paramount Movies app arrives on Xbox Live

Paramount Pictures now has its own standalone Kinect-enabled app. It works like many of the other movie-purchasing apps on the system--minus the ability to watch movies from studios other than Paramount. Oh, and you can't buy movies from the app, either.

Here's an odd addition to the Xbox 360's growing library of entertainment apps. Paramount Pictures now has its own standalone Kinect-enabled app. It works like many of the other movie-purchasing apps on the system--minus the ability to watch movies from studios other than Paramount. Oh, and you can't buy movies from the app, either.

Instead, you'll be able to go to the Paramount Movies website to purchase or rent a movie. Then, queue it up for viewing on your Xbox 360. Why you would consider doing this instead of using the Vudu, Amazon, or Zune apps is beyond us.

I can think of things less useful than this, but it requires more effort to do so than it's worth.
