Halo 4 Spartan Ops could span multiple 'seasons'

Halo 4's Spartan Ops mode could go on to create more "seasons" of episodes if the first one is a hit, according to franchise development director Frank O'Connor.

With Halo 4, 343 Industries hopes to keep players coming back to the game with the co-op Spartan Ops mode. It will tell an episodic story rolled out progressively, to keep players coming back. But depending on its success, 343 could keep it going with more "seasons" of episodes.

Franchise development director Frank O'Connor said during our preview showing that the Spartan Ops episodes are being built with more seasons in mind. In other words, if 343's data shows plenty of players trying Spartan Ops, and sticking with it through the whole season, we can probably expect more to come.

I'm pretty sure Microsoft has worked out a plan to turn Halo into a F2P MMO with stuff like this. I thought it with Reach but this gets even closer.

Well Reach had a very good system of levels and loot (agreed it was cosmetic loot but still loot) for its multiplayer. Spartan Ops is going to have DLC chapters and story so combine that with Reach's loot and levels and you have a really good F2P MMO.

Someone for the love of god please tell me what the difference is between this mode and any other mode in Reach? Looks like Spartans vs Elites to me?

How does it not make sense? It's a separate co-op campaign. You aren't playing against human players.

Think of it like a secondary campaign, designed to be played co-op. Every week you will download a new "episode". Each episode comes with its own cut scenes to progress the story, and 5 new cooperative missions.
