The Kickstarter campaign to fund making Carmageddon: Reincarnation for PC ended last night at an impressive $625,143, having passed its $400k goal last week. Developer Stainless has committed to making Mac and Linux versions too, as well as split-screen and co-op modes. Oh, and the original Carmageddon is coming to iDevices and Android.

Mac and Linux editions were set as incentives for the campaign hitting $600k, but split-screen and co-op were goals for $750k. Delightfully, Stainless decided to toss them in anyway, though it'll take "a little longer" to make them.

The iOS and Android ports of Carmageddon is coming later this summer, Stainless revealed, and will delightfully be free for the first 24 hours.

Look, here's a little work-in-progress footage showing Reincarnation's Bleak City, the new version of a classic Carmageddon track. Stainless stresses that the car, pedestrians and effects are all placeholder, this purely is to show off the city, but look! Roads! Buildings!

God they make the ped deaths less cube like.. the original sprite based death animations looked way better. These new ones look floaty and unrealistic.. I guess im just too used to GTA3

I hope they put in a sprite mode for old-time sake.

If you read the article they said everything but the city is placeholder. That said I think it looks awesome for placeholder.
