[Update] And hey, patch 1.0.2b just launched.

Yes, yes, E3, great, lovely. Trailers and screenshots, wonderful, but what about video games we can actually play? Well, you can't play it quite yet, but Blizzard has shared thoughts on the changes coming to Diablo III in patch 1.0.3, which you might like to dote on as you actually play an actual video game.

Diablo III senior technical game designer Wyatt Cheng gives the full run-down in a blog post. So what've we got? Repair costs will be 4-6 times more expensive, to help stop 'graveyard zerging.' The Increased Attack Speed modifier will probably be toned down. Gem crafting costs are being massively cut. Killing bosses with five stacks of Nephalem Valor will get you one less guaranteed rare drop, but champion and rare packs are getting a bonus rare.

Look, I have better things to do than squish Cheng's reasoned arguments into some awful mockney summary. It's E3, for crying out loud! Just read the blog post yourself, all right?

        *reads patch notes*

        I like the AH-thingies:

        - Damaged items can now be sold on the auction house
        - Once sold, damaged items will be repaired automatically when moved from the purchasing player's Completed tab to their stash

        - Please note that unsold damage items will not be automatically repaired when returned to the seller's stash (aoleon-reading-between-the-lines: "We're not stupid, you know.")

"Gem crafting costs are being massively cut."

I see what you did there. Well played, Alice.
