Breath of Death VII and Cthulhu Saves the World's latest throwback RPG, the webcomic-inspired Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3, has been confirmed for a July 10 release on XBLIG, and PC and Mac via Steam, priced at $5.
After impressing the world with its throwback RPGs Breath of Death VII and Cthulhu Saves the World, Zeboyd Games seemed the perfect team to take over Penny Arcade's 'episodic' retro RPG series. Soon we'll get to sink our teeth into the fruits of its labour, as the indie dev announced on Friday that Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 will be released for PC, Mac and Xbox Live Indie Games on July 10.
The PC edition is coming via Steam as a SteamPlay title, so you'll get both the Windows and Mac flavours. It'll cost you $5 (400 Microsoft Points) on either platform. Android and iOS versions are also in the works, at Tinkerhouse Games, but there's no word yet on when they'll arrive.
"We're very excited about this game – We think it is a huge improvement over Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII and can't wait for more people to have a chance to play it," Zeboyd said in the announcement.
The Penny Arcade Adventures series was originally developed by Hothead Games, but the studio dropped it in favour of DeathSpank. Only twoepisodes of the planned trilogy were released, back in 2008, but Zeboyd picked up the ball in 2011.
