Sports Champions 2 preview

Sports Champions didn't ignite the game world like Wii Sports did, but it was a capable showcase of PlayStation Move's accuracy. Games like Frisbee golf and table tennis showed off how well the Move could translate 3D movement. Unfortunately, while the games controlled well, Bocce and beach volleyball aren't quite the most exciting games to feature in a sports compilation.

Zindagi's sequel features far more iconic sports, with boxing and skiing the first sports to be announced. Unfortunately, while they're far more "exciting," they aren't quite as good at showing off Move's accuracy.

Sports Champions' take on skiing could probably be done just as well on a Wii Remote. Holding the Move controller on your side, you simply tilt to control your onscreen skiier.

Boxing is a far more impressive use of the controllers. Unfortunately, the game doesn't keep track of your body. While your arms are accurate recreated in the game, you can't expect to dodge shots by moving your body. It's a bit counter-intuitive.

One "improvement" made in Sports Champions 2 is the removal of calibration before playing. In the first game, you had to calibrate the controller before each play. In the sequel, it's entirely optional. Cynically, this lack of calibration could also be indicative of the more simplistic nature of the sequel's games.
