The grisly action-adventure game Soul Sacrifice is coming to North America. The Vita exclusive doesn't have a release window yet, but Sony has confirmed it will publish the game in the west. It's one of the first games coming from ex-Capcom executive Keiji Inafune, in his new venture Comcept.

In comments on the PlayStation Blog, Inafune said he wants to create "reality blended into a fantasy world," rather than pure fantasy. "Cruelty is a reality in our world, and we have to make sacrifices and pay costs on a daily basis," he said. "I wanted to blend this 'reality' theme into a fantasy world, one filled with magic, and create a new type of gaming experience that relied on the player making sacrifices in order to obtain great power."

That theme of sacrifice was shown explicitly in the early look out of Japan, which showed the protagonist severing limbs and giving up pieces pieces of his humanity in exchange for magical powers. The game will be on display at E3, so we should know more about it soon.
