Rift: Storm Legion expansion will triple game world

The Defiants and Guardians get even more real estate in the new expansion pack for Rift, entitled Storm Legion.

Trion World's popular MMO, Rift is getting a face lift through a new expansion pack. Called Storm Legion, the expansion promises to add two new continents that will triple the size of the existing world of Telara. The story-driven expansion will focus on Crucia, Queen of Storms, and the armies she hopes to bring through a gateway to the planes.

As explained on the expansion's official web site, Storm Legion will add three new raids and seven new dungeons. The add-on is planned for release this fall.

Trion had hinted at the expansion when it sent out an odd assortment of goodies, including a carpenter's level with the number 10 on it (the level cap rises from 50 to 60), the soles of four shoes (four new souls, one for each calling), and a rusty key ring with a gold key labeled Port Tempest (although the new city is Tempest Bay, according to the official site).

We'll get a first-hand look at the new Telara at E3 next week.

I might come back for this! I enjoyed my first three months, just found end game painful.

I might come back for this as well. I played the game for about 6 months and really enjoyed it.

I actually found the end game not too bad for a casual player. They constantly had some easy daily quests that usually lead to some decent gear. Those alone kept me logging in every day. The pvp weekend events made getting pvp gear some what bare-able. Loved the pvp rifts. Never got into raiding though.

We need to get a group together of ex-rift players who are coming back for this. I'm bored with Tera and I loved Rift and want to come back, but if I do I want to group with Shackers.

When Rift came out and the Shack guild was at its highest peak, I was unable to play very much because of kids/work and got left behind. It's been like that with EVERY online game I've tried to play with shackers.

I've not played it yet (life kind of got in the way) is it worth jumping into? Seems as though it gets a positive reception.

Yeah its a really good game, it was highly polished with lots to do at launch and they have been adding content at a pretty impressive pace. I still have an active sub and play now and then, lots of options on things to do at endgame, keeps it from getting stale.

I think it's the best MMO since the original Everquest. I loved playing it, my only problem is that I'm a sucker for new stuff and I have a 1 mmo per month rule, so when new mmo's came out I had to cancel Rift to try them out. But I'm ready to go back in again.
