Skyrim's 'Dawnguard' DLC gets first trailer

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has released a trailer showing story and action beats from its first DLC pack, Dawnguard.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been teasing its Dawnguard downloadable content, but short of a name and a teaser image we haven't had much to judge for the add-on. That all changes today, with the release of a rather long trailer for Dawnguard, giving hints at the story and some of the enemies you'll be facing.

Dawnguard will center around creatures of the night, apparently attempting to take the Elder Scrolls by force so they can blot out the sun permanently. This would presumably kill everything they need to eat, but no one ever said it was a particularly good plan. As with all supervillains, the one thing standing in the vampires' way is an elite group of do-gooders called the Dawnguard.

The DLC will hit sometime this summer, coming to Xbox 360 first and then PC and PlayStation 3 at least 30 days later. No specific date has been given yet for any platform.

This whole coming out on this platform first, followed by the rest a month+ later is becoming truly fucking ridiculous. What is the legitmate reason, why? Christ it's bad enough we've waited almost an extra month for MP3 on the PC and over 3 months for Prototype 2 on the PC but why the hell do they do this?

Keep dreaming. They won't start fixing the issues until consumers start bitching about them. Look at the PS3 fiasco.

With a game like this, I honestly don't mind. I'm sure the DLC will be patched multiple times before it comes to PC and PS3.

"at least 30 days later"? Are you freaking kidding me? A week of exclusivity is one thing, but a whole damn month? That's just bullshit. F Microsoft, and F Bethesda for giving them that deal. I'll wait for it to get discounted on the Playstation Network before I get it, if I get it at all.

Lol, this looks great - more Skyrim is best Skyrim - but holy crap the animations are still classic Bethesda. My favorite was when the vampire guy goes to grab his victim and his right hand grabs an invisible body a foot away from the actual dude.

But I thought the DLC was supposed to add every country from every Elder Scrolls game and also all of Earth and some of Mars and you could play Call of Duty on arcade machines on the planet Virmire and then The Doctor turns up and you travel back in time to fight the Roman army as celts.

From what it looked like, there was a portal that may take you to another plane a-la Oblivion gates? They may be able to put this out without adding a whole chunk of land to Skyrim.

I cannot wait! Not sure if i want to buy it for the xbox first or just wait and just get it for the computer. I'm alittle pissed about the month delay, but that does give us pc users a only slightly buggy game lol.

Wow, how did you manage to spot that one? It's a Vampire overlord, and yes that was made very clear by the fact that it was teased earlier this year as "things you might be able to do later", and moreover, the narrator saying "Will you join us or join the Dawnguard" and then, the real teller, THE FACT THAT DOHVAHKIIN WAS AN EVIL VAMPIRE THING AT THE END.
