Update - Added additional details on the service.

We've been hearing rumblings of a "Premium" service coming to Battlefield 3, and it seems that the rumors have been on to something. Sony inadvertently let the cat out of the bag, revealing what could be the date and price for the service.

A European PlayStation Store update (via Eurogamer) listed the service, but quickly removed that part of the post. It had been listed for a June 4 launch, at 49.99 euros (approximately $62). EA has not yet made an official announcement.

The date may vary since it's the European release, and we imagine the US price will be set at $50 or $60. The date does fit with the rumor we had heard earlier, so it's been accurate as far as we know up to this point. The reports have stated the service will include a premium knife, black dog tag, soldier camos, weapon camos, extra Assignments, and more.

A German fact sheet on NeoGAF (via Joystiq) gives more details. It claims a one-time fee of $50, and the inclusion for five expansion packs, plus two weeks of early access to unreleased packs. Other promised features on the fact sheet include "the ability to reset stats" and "queue priority into servers." With so many leaks, we expect an official announcement soon.

EA has been frank about its desire to launch a subscription service similar to Call of Duty Elite, so this should come as no surprise.

This game really fell off the map for me. I played it for like a month and when I go back to it, I just get that "ugh" feeling 5 minutes in.

I adored it and Dice just totally dropped the ball for support. My lesson is well and truly learnt - no interest again thanks.

I don't play as much as I'd like, mostly because of Mass Effect 3. Every time I play it though, I still fucking love it.

I sure hope so. The queue prioritization is going to get annoying very fast.

You do realize this is EA, right? Of course every platform will have this available. This is for those that plan on purchasing all five DLCs. If you want them at a discount with bonuses thrown in then purchase this. Don't want that? Don't buy it.

I hope this fails hard so EA realizes that if the game is shit people aren't going to put money into it.

Yes, BF3 is shit compared to BF2.

the majority of people who don't visit online forums are going to yum this shit up, and EA will be able to power the money printing press off it for a few weeks. then bf4 will be a monthly subscription.

They need to patch up the game before this kind of shit. The game is still flooded with cheaters.

So, what's everyone hating on this time here? If you choose to buy it, it's $10 less than if you bought the remaining four DLC pieces separately (assuming $15 per, as B2K was).

Maybe I'm just looking at this rationally now instead of seeing EA and "Premium" and acting like "OLOL BETTER HATE ON THIS!"

so sounds like I missed out on maybe a month or two of (hype goggles shaded) goodness by not getting this. I'm not sure if that's an argument for or against waiting a little while. I saved some money, on the other hand I missed that month where everyone was loving it
