Dead Space's 'new chapter' teased, introduces John Carver
by Andrew Yoon, May 29, 2012 2:30pm PDTDead Space 3 is currently one of the industry's worst-kept secrets. However, as E3 approaches, it appears Electronic Arts is nearing an official announcement of the title.
The official Dead Space website has been updated with a brand new teaser video for "a new chapter in the Dead Space saga." While it focuses on what appears to be a forthcoming motion comic, it introduces John Carver--a character that could be Isaac Clarke's rumored co-op partner.
The video shows off the icy planet Uxor, which echoes previous reports that Dead Space 3 would take place in such an environment. "While patrolling the planet Uxor, Earthgov Sergeant John Carver witnesses an attack on the Marker Site he guards which changes his life forever. John must now fight his way through a colony now in complete chaos as he begins to discover how important he is in fighting the Necromorph plague," EA's official description of the video reads.
EA also adds: "This is just the start of John Carver's saga in the Dead Space Universe." Given the publisher's recent confirmation that a new game in the franchise is coming, it seems likely that Mr. Carver will have some role in the upcoming game.
