Amazon Instant Video now available on Xbox 360
by Andrew Yoon, May 29, 2012 10:30am PDTAfter a brief stint of exclusivity on PlayStation 3, Amazon Instant Video is now available on Xbox 360. The app will allow Amazon customers to watch any of their purchased or rented content on the TV. In addition, paying Amazon Prime subscribers will be able to access the Prime Instant Video library via console.
As with other Xbox video apps, the Amazon app features Kinect integration, for search via gesture or voice. "Whispersync" will also let Amazon customers keep track of their place in a video, across multiple devices.
All Xbox entertainment apps require Xbox Live Gold. Amazon Prime members will be able to request a free month of Gold here. While all Amazon customers will be able to use the app, access to the Prime Instant Video library requires subscription into Amazon Prime, which costs $79 a year.
