Carmageddon ploughing into GOG

The original Carmageddon is due to screech onto GOG "in the coming months," ploughing through pedestrians and leaving bloody skidmarks. It'll cost $10, but has been added as a perk for the Carmageddon: Reincarnation Kickstarter too.

Automotive murder simulator Carmageddon has been out of reach for many years, but soon we'll again be able to hop behind the wheel of our killing machines and fry pedestrians with the game's "electro-bastard ray." As developer Stainless seeks Kickstarter funding for Carmageddon: Reincarnation, it's also announced that the original will be racing towards GOG "in the coming months."

Coming complete with the Splat Pack expansion, Carmageddon will cost $9.99 on GOG. Or, you'll get it for free if you pledge at least $25 to the Carmageddon: Reincarnation Kickstarter. You also get a copy of the new game, as with all pledges above $15.

With 12 days left to run, the Reincarnation Kickstarter has a touch over $350,000 towards its $400,000 goal. The more it beats this by, the more content the game will have, and the more platforms Stainless can make it for. Right now, only PC is properly confirmed, but Mac and Linux are planned, with lofty dreams of hitting all sorts of other gizmos and gadgets too.

Increased my pledge thing on the Carmageddon kickstarter because of it. I was going to get the game on GOG anyway. May as well help it fund a game.

      GOG is awesome

I've only played Carmageddon 2. How does the first one compare?

It's better I think. Worse graphics.

I felt like they ruined the gameplay w/ Carmageddon 2 when they made the vehicles way easier to destroy.

I played a lot of the original on the Mac, and the best part was doing crazy stunts/crashes and not having to worry so much about damage and ending your turn.

I liked it better. The missions were better and I liked a lot of car designs better because they were less race car like.

I remember the beta for Carmageddon the easy difficulty was: "Easy as killing babies with axes" haha good times. I remember thinking if they could combine Carmageddon and GTA you would have the most awesome game ever.

Carmageddon is a bitch to get working on modern PC's so if they've got it working 'out of the box' i'll be pretty pleased.

Haha yes at last! Can't fucking wait, getting this for sure.

Will also pick up Carmageddon 2 when they hopefully re-release that on GOG as well.

      Woo!

This was GTA before there was a GTA.

I played it again a few years back and found the graphics to be so bad they hindered my enjoyment. Not in a this-looks-its-age way but an I-can't-make-sense-of-the-action way. Afterwards, I subscribed to AARP.
