Luigi's Mansion 2 for Wii U spotted at retail

A UK retailer has put up a listing for a Wii U version of Luigi's Mansion 2.

Luigi's Mansion 2 was revealed as a 3DS game last year, a long-awaited return to one of Nintendo's cult hits. While the game is scheduled for release this year, we've heard nary a peep about it since its reveal. A new retail listing suggests Nintendo may be putting the game on Wii U, either as an additional platform a wholesale move.

The UK retailer Play (via GameSpot) lists the game for Wii U, leading to speculation of the new platform. The Wii U would make sense for the game, especially in how the tablet can interact with the TV to unveil hidden things like, for example, ghosts. Not to mention it would be another Wii U game to show this year at E3, as the system prepares to launch.

This listing could just be a mistake, but Play does list the 3DS version separately. Until we hear official word from Nintendo, this falls under the rumor category. Shacknews has contacted Nintendo regarding the rumor, and will update as more information becomes available.

I have a love/hate relationship with the original Luigi's Mansion so I can't say I'm all that excited, regardless I thunk Nintendo could make some interesting use of the Wii U's features on this one.
