Nintendo DSi dropping to $99, DSi XL to $129
by Steve Watts, May 10, 2012 10:00am PDTSince Nintendo's 3DS price drop, the prices of the company's older portable systems have seemed a little off. The spiffy new system became a cool $169.99, while the old DSi XL remained the same price, $169.99. Even the standard DSi is set at $149.99, meaning twenty bucks was the difference between new and old. That issue is being fixed with new price points coming soon.
Nintendo has announced that starting May 20, the DSi XL will be reduced to an MSRP of $129.99, and the DSi will be knocked down to $99.99. The new price shares a date with the Midnight Purple 3DS and the launch of Mario Tennis Open for the 3DS, so it will be a big day for Nintendo products.

I've never purchased a DS. I got a phatty off craigslist one day for free, but ended up killing it in my backpack with water from my nalgene. I said fuck it and got a 3DS to play my DS games, but if you play them in the original resolution you have a really small picture (apparently the contrast isn't as good as an actual DS too). So yeah, an XL would probably be the best way to go back and play those Zeldas and Castlevanias.
