Assassin's Creed is no stranger to retailer-exclusive pre-order bonus DLC. As with Assassin's Creed Revelations, Ubisoft is partnering up with GameStop to offer exclusive content for gamers that pre-order Assassin's Creed 3--including a single-player mission. While not yet reflected on the product listing, GameStop will be offering an exclusive single-player mission for gamers that make a deposit: "The Lost Mayan Ruins." Given the game takes place in the Northeast during the American Revolution, it's clear these Mayans really got lost. In addition to the mission, GameStop will also offer the "Sawtooth Cutlass" weapon.

Why do publishers keep doing this bullshit? And if they are going to do it, why don't they partner up with someone who doesn't suck total ass? Like Amazon.

Because GameStop probably paid big bucks for the exclusive? Fuck all that, usually those extras suck ass and aren't worth it.

Weren't big game companies supposed to hate gamestop because the used game market effects their profits or whatever? Why keep teaming up with them?

That's some crackpot kinda stuff. At the end of the day they're a videogame retailer. Of course game companies work with them since there's a ton of product moved there.

In the business world, you usually hate the people you work with.

Because people keep pre-ordering and making it popular. From their point of view, they see it as an overwhelming success, with a small vocal minority against it.

So people who don't buy their games at GameStop are a minority? I thought the split was pretty even these days between them and Walmart and Bestbuy and Amazon.

Hopefully Ubisoft continues the trend of the last three games, and either offering the GameStop DLC for very cheap (ACII) or free (AC:B, AC:R) with the single-player DLC.

So let's partner up with the retailer that hates PC gaming. Gamestop has half an end cap for PC gaming. The cashiers don't even realize there are still PC gamers out there... and the PC games they do stock, they open up and store the disks behind the counter while the codes get scammed half the time. Does anyone realize we don't want to buy them a retail disk we want steam / digital copies?? So I can only get the DLC if I pre-order from Gamestop? No thanks. Not even interested in doing that. I'll buy it from steam and since I'm already not getting the DLC why not wait for a sale. PC gaming is dying because the idiot publishers are doing crap like this to kill it. Derp.
