Raptr launches rewards program

Gamers like free and discounted stuff, so Raptr has launched a new program that rewards gamers just for playing their favorite games.

What is Raptr? The company describes itself as a social network for gamers, one that allows gamers to "discover personalized content" by connecting their gamertags from "all major gaming platforms" into the service. To greater entice users, the service has added "rewards" for active members.

How does it work? By gathering usage data from your gaming consoles, you'll be able to unlock certain rewards. For example, access to the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier beta requires a "newbie" rank in the top 10 Xbox 360 games, or recorded playtime in previous Ghost Recon or Assassin's Creed games.

Raptr Rewards just launched in beta and the company has already started giving away more than 350,000 free rewards, "worth more than $1 million." Some other items being given away include "in-game and rare collectibles for Mass Effect," Xbox Live subscriptions, and free copies of games. These items are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information on how the service works, visit Raptr.
