Republique to feature voices of David Hayter, Jennifer Hale
by Steve Watts, May 04, 2012 2:00pm PDTTwo well-known voice actors have joined Republique, the iOS adventure game from former Halo 4 creative director Ryan Payton. The mobile market is going to get some Snake and FemShep in it, with the chords of David Hayter and Jennifer Hale.
David Hayter is best known as Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series, and has worked on scripts for X-Men and Watchmen. He'll be playing the head revolutionary who writes anti-Overseer propaganda. "It's a character I wrote specifically with David in mind," says Payton, "as he's not only very politically active but also an accomplished writer."
Hale is known for playing a wide variety of strong female protagonists, including Commander Shepard from Mass Effect, Samus Aran from Metroid, and Naomi Hunter from Metal Gear. This time she'll be changing it up by playing a villain known as "The Mentor." Payton says she'll be a "central antagonistic force" for players.
Republique is scheduled for summer of 2013 on iOS devices, and for PC and Mac shortly after. The game's Kickstarter page is aiming to raise a lofty $500,000 goal, with only 7 days remaining to meet more than half of that amount.
